Professional Organizations

• California Association for Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance (CAHPERD):  The state professional organization for health, physical education, recreation and dance educators.  Provides opportunities for professional learning, networking and collaborating to inform students' health and physical literacy.  Notable for "Advocacy Toolkit" posted on the CAHPERD website and the annual CAHPERD State Conference hosted every spring.  
• Society for Health and Physical Education (SHAPE) America:  The national professional organization for health and physical education. Formerly called the American Alliance for Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance (AAHPERD).  Provides guiding documents, professional learning, toolkits, opportunities to network.  Collaborates with organizations for national roll-outs of initiatives.  Notable for hosting the SHAPE America National Conference each spring.  

Community Organizations

• San Diego County Childhood Obesity Initiative (COI):  Brings government and community partners together to address issues related to childhood obesity in San Diego County. The COI School and After School Domain meets the third Tuesday of every month.
